Guest Blog: A Life-Changing Adventure in Love

Is it possible to love someone who lives thousands of miles away, whom you’ve never met, and doesn’t even speak your language? I know it sounds crazy, but that’s what happened when I began sponsoring 3-year-old Emeling Sanchez to receive an education at the LifeLink School in Nicaragua.

For only $35 per month, I adopted a new family, established an awareness of missions, and fell in love with the hope and possibilities that this precious child would have. Then, a year after sponsoring Emeling, I met her on a short-term mission trip through LifeLink International to Nicaragua! There are no words to describe the impact that this trip has had on my life, but a piece of my heart was left there, and I immediately knew that this was not my last dance with international missions.

God used Emeling to jumpstart a plan for my life.

In September, I am starting my journey into full-time world missions. What’s best is that I will be returning to Nicaragua as part of my route! What started as a “good deed” has now become a destiny. Her family wanted to thank me for giving their daughter a chance at a future through a first-class education, but I am thanking their daughter for giving me a reason to live out my future the way God intended.

What a journey it has been thus far; what an adventure it will turn out to be!
